PRIZE WINNER!
In 1993, the Mississippi Cultural Crossroads, a non-profit community educational and cultural organization in Port Gibson, Mississippi held a juried quilt exhibition – and this wonderful Folk Art quilt won a prize!
The blocks are fabric “Self Portraits” of nine Third Grade children in the local Port Gibson school. Well known African American quilter, Geraldine Nash, pieced the portrait blocks -- and then hand quilted the quilt ~ with verve!
Each portrait is unique -- and Ms Nash quilted each block in an individual design too !
Documentation on the quilt from Mississippi Cultural Crossroads, including the program of the exhibition and a newspaper article, will be provided to the buyer of the quilt.
