Wools and cottons
We love when a quilt maker chooses a very simple pattern ~ and goes on to make it into something quite memorable.
Here an Amish woman in Ohio took the elementary Ninepatch, set her blocks "on point," and with a superb use of color, created a superb piece of design.
The fabrics are both cottons and wools ~ the saturated jewel tones, like the luscious red, are wool. (Detail photos below are most accurate for color.)
The format of the quilt ~ repeated block designs set within a narrow inner and wider outer border ~ is typical of Midwest Amish quilts made in the early part of the 20th century.
Her fine hand quilting measures 9 -10 stitches per inch. It is executed in dark thread, characteristic of the Amish.
EXCELLENT CONDITION with no wear, tears or fabric weakness.
The last owner mounted this small quilt (32 x 37 inches with frame) on black cotton which has been stretched over a frame. This made for easy, and stunning hanging on the wall.
Quilt can very easily be removed from the mount.
