CRAZY ALBUM QUILT

Unknown Maker
Collected in California
54 x 60 inches

Circa 1900

Silks, velvets

Here's a very charming turn-of-the-century textile, made circa 1890 or 1900 ~ which looks like a Victorian LOTTO GAME!

We're calling it a Sampler or Album quilt, made in the Crazy Quilt style. Each square has shapes or object hand appliqued in either silk or velvet:

Heart, Star and Moon, Piano, Sailboat, Sun, Basket, Eagle, and a few Unidentifiables.

There's a printed tobacco silk of an "Egyptian" woman holding her country's flag, and another piece, embossed and printed in gold -- that looks like it might be a lining of a fancy hat.

This is in Excellent Condition except for some silk piece which have begun to shatter. All are visible in the photos. The black ground is all sturdy and intact.

All hand embroidered.

A Unique Victorian Era Treasure!
