This beautiful Crazy Quilt block was made by "Aunt Sarah Ford" of Northern California.
We have another block made by the same woman -- and that block is hand embroidered with words that tell us that "Aunt Sarah Ford" made these in her "70th year." That block is dated "1884."
This piece features some gorgeous hand embroidery.
Aunt Sarah was an exceptionally skilled needlewoman. Here she embroidered some elegant initials, some names, a "flugelhorn" (?), a cheerful sunburst, a "spray" of fern-y leaves, and a lovely floating feather.
The block is in UNUSED and MINT condition. The colors are brilliant and vibrant ~ it simply GLOWS....
