EXCEPTIONAL HAND QUILTING
The mid-19th century woman who made this applique (and reverse applique!) quilt left lots of white space to do some outstanding and rather unusual hand quilting.
Check out the tight, tight crosshatch grids, the double-veined fronds, the tons of feathers, the floating "distelfinks" and the very prominent elongated and complex "Feather" variation she used as grids (sashing)! We had not seen that quilting design before.
This heirloom quilt was little or never used -- after 150 or more years, it is in EXCELLENT, STURDY CONDITION with no wear, tears, holes or fabric weakness. No fading or stains. Flat and lightweight; square.
Clean, fresh, and bright as it was recently professionally washed to remove a small amount of surface dirt. Some very light pencil lines remain ( thiswill lift in the next hand wash).
Price: $1,650
Executed at about 10 tiny stitches per inch, counting one side only, the very dense and fine quilting creates an elegant, embossed texture with varied and uncommon quilting patterns.
Clean, fresh, and bright as it was recently professionally washed to remove a small amount of surface dirt. Some very light pencil lines remain ( thiswill lift in the next hand wash).
Beautiful on a bed ~ this one's large enough to work on modern beds.
A classic!Price: $1,650
