Classic Quilt!

Both this design, "Double Irish Chain," and the colors are 19th-century Classic! This pleasing quilt was made circa 1880, an era that saw lots and lots of two color quilts.

Indigo Blue and White was a favorite combination then, at the end of the 19th century ~ and remains so to this day. Here, the quilt maker (very wisely, we think) added two vertical indigo bars as borders.

This all cotton quilt measures a very generous 76 x 100 inches and would work on a modern bed.

The hand quilting is dense and executed in small, very even stitches. The quilting designs work well with the geometry of the "Chain."

In Excellent Condition; flat and lightweight; strong and sturdy.

The deep blue cotton binding looks like a replacement to us.
