Here's a very pleasing variation of the Rose of Sharon applique design
called "Mexican Rose."
This lovely, cheery quilt was made circa 1930 and is entirely cotton.
It's entirely hand quilted in stylized flowers and vines and dense crosshatch.
The stitches are small and consistent.
The hand appliqued flowers and leaves are all solid colors.
The thirty blocks of the central area are all surrounded
with solid gold swags and finished with a white outer border.
