Happy Holidays!

A Perfect Holiday Gift for the Quilt Lover in your life!

About the time of the U.S. Civil War, a very lively and experienced
quilt maker created Nine different applique blocks for her
superb "sampler" quilt, much in the tradition of Baltimore Album Quilts.

The center block of this stunner is a traditional "Prince's Feather,"
and some of the surrounding blocks are also classic applique designs:

We see variants of "Currants and Coxcombs," "Oak Leaf and Acorn,"
"Coxcomb" and "Rose Wreath" among others.

Beautifully designed and made, the quilt is entirely hand done ~
all the seaming and piecing, as well as the applique and quilting.

The dense hand quilting covers all the available white space,
with elegant feathers that rather follow the outlines of the appliques.

Very skillfully executed at 11 - 12 stitches per inch, counting one side only.

The quilt maker framed these gorgeous blocks
with an outer border composed of 28 slightly curved (appliqued) stems
each with opposing pairs of leaves in alternating reds and greens.

She finished the quilt with a separately applied, very narrow,
white cotton binding.

A Great One!
