Silks with Cotton Back Rare Find!
We are offering an elegant and fine silk Quaker quilt, a wonderful
example of a type that does not come along very often.
This one, made circa 1860, is a pieced design traditionally known as
"Wild Goose Chase."
You haven't seen or felt fine silk until you have handled an early Quaker quilt!
Generally intact, this beautiful quilt appears to have not had much use,
but, nonetheless, has some wear and splits. (See photos)
Early ~ made in the era of the U. S. Civil War, and beautifully
hand quilted ~ at about 9 stitches per inch (counting one side only).
Well made, and finished with a separately applied blue silk binding.
