Sandy McPherson bought this quilt from a seller in Iowa City in 1996.

There's a hand written paper tag attached, which reads:

"Strip plaid, watermelon strips between. Unknown pieced pattern. Plaids, wools 
from Southern Ontario, the northernmost point on the Underground Railroad.
Ethnicity unknown.
Black-red check is Rob Roy tartan. Two sizes of tartan are Stewart, Royal."

Tied rather than quilted, and with a small amount of hand embroidery.
Unusual Bars back with some exuberant floral print.

Very Good Condition.
