RARE * RARE * RARE
We have not see this design before ...
and wonder whether the four major applique designs are "Peppers" as they appear.
Altogether a very, very interesting quilt.
A master hand quilter, she also organized her overall quilting concept in a very unusual way.
Her border, on the other hand, is quite opulent
in both its applique designs and its quilting.
Here she used another beautiful and very old style of quilting: diagonal triple line quilting.
measuring a consistent THIRTEEN (13!) stitches per inch, counting one side only.
This woman was a very skilled, experienced, and confident quilt maker.
Note the beautifully executed appliqued fine "tendrils" on her grape vine,
the narrow, separately applied green cotton binding,
and the way she skillfully rounded her corners.
Fresh and clean ~ the quilt was recently professionally washed.
You sure don't see a quilt like this everyday!

Altogether a very, very interesting quilt.
The quilt maker chose this exceptionally rare (unique?) design.
She surrounded her rather spare central section with a border of luscious grapes
on a gracefully undulating vine.
The center is very densely quilted in tiny cross-hatches, which create a quiet, elegant textural background, and do not interfere with the "minimalist" sense of that area.
in both its applique designs and its quilting.
Here she used another beautiful and very old style of quilting: diagonal triple line quilting.
Her hand quilting is absolutely extraordinary.
It is among the best we have ever seen, measuring a consistent THIRTEEN (13!) stitches per inch, counting one side only.
This woman was a very skilled, experienced, and confident quilt maker.
Note the beautifully executed appliqued fine "tendrils" on her grape vine,
the narrow, separately applied green cotton binding,
and the way she skillfully rounded her corners.
Flat, square and lightweight, the quilt is in EXCELLENT CONDITION.
Strong and sturdy with no wear, tears, or fading.
The 'stuffed" grapes were restored some time in the past; the work is exceptionally well done.
You sure don't see a quilt like this everyday!
