This Quilt Maker Went On ...
and On ... and On ....
The woman who made this pieced and appliqued quilt 150 or so years ago,
had lots of design ideas ~ used them all, and did them well!
She set her lovely, hand appliqued floral spray blocks "on point,"
and placed them within complex grids, adding small buds in the intersections.
She framed the lively interior with several borders along three sides:
a narrow solid green, delicate vine-and-leaf applique,
and finally another narrow green edge.
She did wonderful varied hand quilting, too, varying it too,
all executed at 7 to 8 stitches per inch, counting one side only.
This mid-19th century beauty is in Very Good Condition ~
it has mellowed a bit, and has some very slightly yellowed areas.
