SUNBONNET SUE
Quilt Top

Unknown Maker
Collected in Nebraska
72 x 88 inches
Circa 1930
Cottons

In addition to some very fine hand work, the charming and unusual set of
Suns and Moons distinguish this 1930s Sunbonnet Sue quilt top.

[And the price is not "astronomical" ... :) ]

This top appeared unused when we got it,
but had a bit of surface soil, so we laundered it.

Fresh, bright and clean, Sue ~
and her 19 identical sisters are ready to go to her new home.

Finely made of high quality cottons. Hand embroidered with a
running stitch in black thread.

Each Sue block measures 11 x 11 inches.

Beautifully made with nice even stitches by a skilled needlewoman,
likely a loving Mom or Grandma from "her" little girl's dresses.

Excellent Condition except for one tear in the lavender border
on the top left corner;
see close up detail photo below.
