A few years ago, we visited Gee's Bend (a.k.a. Boykin, AL),
in what is known as the "Black Belt" of Alabama.

Selma, AL is a town about 44 miles from the Gee's Bend community.
While snooping around in Selma, we came upon two
very charming quilt tops.

Unfortunately, the seller did not know who made the quilt tops, or when.

They are each made of Double Knit fabrics, and probably date around 1970.

Some of the fabrics used in these tops have words on them:
"RODEO" ... "HAMMER NAILS"

The quilt maker organized her numerous prints into a Four Patch design,
gated by graphically pleasing solid white and red stripping.

We also love the way she used her various striped fabrics.

(We have the other quilt top, clearly made by the same woman, also listed now.)
