Dense Design

A wonderful, cheery variation on the traditional "Whig Rose" design,
also often called "Democrat Rose."

This early 20th century quilt maker just kept on adding appliqued details,
"filling in her spaces," and leaving little of the white ground.

Recently professionally washed, this lightweight quilt is in
 Excellent Condition.

There is no filling here ~ no batting at all,
and the quilt maker was not very big on quilting.

She did do a bit of hand quilting, but applique was her major deal.
Some of the complex design is actually hand pieced; see the petaled central flowers.

We love the large flowers in the center section, surrounded by the
smaller and delicate vining flowered borders.

Terrific finish to this very graphically pleasing quilt!

Separately bound with solid green cotton.
