* * Flowers of Her Mind * *

We are calling this "Tulip" applique
because it sorta-kinda comes close to that general shape.
But this flora come from a fantasy garden in the quilt maker's mind.

This quilt maker had extrordinary skill in the art of applique;
 the stitches are truly nearly invisible.

We like the way s/he organized the flowers in the center section;
set facing the center ~ and with slightly curving leaves ~
they appear to swirl, creating just enough movement for interest.

S/he surrounded the center with charming buds and leaves
for a very pleasing overall look.

The hand quilting is simple and rather sparse;
it is not the important thing here.

In very good condition, the early 20th century pieceis pretty much mint
save for a few scattered spots.
