Julie Silber is a respected and qualified professional appraiser of antique and vintage quilts made prior to 1950. Julie has been actively involved with antique quilts since 1966.


Her knowledge of the market excels, as she keeps absolutely current with prices and values. Her appraisals are accepted and honored by museums, the IRS, and insurance companies. Julie has more than 35 years of experience in buying, selling, and appraising antique quilts.





The Quilt Complex has done appraisals of entire collections as large as several hundred quilts, as well as appraisals of a single, or a few quilts. Julie's appraisals can be used for insurance, charitable donation, estate assessment, and current fair market purposes.

She is also known for her complete and knowledgeable response to the general request, “I want to know as much as I can about my quilt...”



Julie has appraised quilts for individuals, for corporations including Esprit de Corp. and Levi Strauss, as well as for major museums, including the Henry Ford Museum in Dearborn, Michigan, the Illinois State Museum, and the Museum of California in Oakland .

Quilt Guild and Quilt Show Related Appraisal Events:


In the last few years, we have had some very inventive and successful "Appraisal Events" at monthly Quilt Guild meetings and Annual Quilt Guild Shows. Julie can do appraisals for individuals or groups -- and this can both educate members and raise money for your guild!
