Quilts in Women's Lives

Women have always used quilts as more than blankets, and as more than art works. They made quilts to commemorate beginnings, endings, passages and celebrations.

Working on the exhibition “American Quilts: A Handmade Legacy, Julie found deeply moving stories that went with some of her favorite quilts and other artifacts. In this talk which includes slides and real quilts, she’ll share those, and include women’s documented, expressive handwork to bring pieces of the past to life.

A general quilt history for everyone – a talk that’s accessible to and entertaining for all.
