a non-profit community educational and cultural organization in Port Gibson, MS
held a juried quilt exhibition –
and this wonderful Folk Art quilt won a prize!

The blocks are fabric “Self Portraits” of nine Third Grade children
enrolled in the local Port Gibson school.
Well known African American quilter, Geraldine Nash, pieced the portrait blocks --
and then hand quilted the quilt ~ with verve!

Each portrait is unique, and Ms Nash quilted each block in an individual design too!
