CAROLINA LILY
Unknown Quilt Maker
Collected in Virginia
66 x 75 Inches
Circa 1900
Cottons

What Quilting!

This quilt maker chose the Clam Shell or Baptist Fan quilting design.
But this maker went way beyond the usual, and set the quilted arcs only 1/4 apart.

So the entire surface of the quilt is covered with very dense hand quilting,
executed at about 7 stitches per inch (counting one side only),

This design, called "Carolina Lily," and is a loved traditional one.

Well made and in Excellent Condition:
Strong, sturdy, and clean.
Flat and lightweight with wool batting.

All cottons and separately bound.

Price:  $615
